Q&A with EMURGO Fintech Community Manager Omar
Hi Omar. Please introduce yourself.
Omar: Hello. I’m Omar Rozak. Currently, I work as a Community Manager for EMURGO Fintech with a focus on our Anzens platform which is developing a suite of Web3 fintech products.
What is your career background?
Omar: I have been working in the blockchain industry for several years. Before EMURGO, I was working on another Web3 project, in charge of various tasks such as exchange listings, TVL (Total Value Locked) control, marketing campaigns, and media coverage.
How did you start your career in blockchain and crypto, and what was your journey to EMURGO?
Omar: I had been a huge Cardano fan from day one. From the beginning, Charles’ well-known Cardano whiteboard YouTube video was the main reason why I got interested in this industry. Cardano had a unique vision of providing a scalable, sustainable, and interoperable blockchain platform that was developed to improve upon existing blockchain networks.
Ever since that video, I had always been thinking about ways to take an active role in working to develop the Cardano ecosystem to bring Web3 products that can improve the lives of people. When I got the fortunate opportunity to connect with Cardano founding entity EMURGO, I immediately took upon the offer to work in any capacity.
In your opinion, what makes working at EMURGO different compared to other companies?
Omar: EMURGO is truly an international company with many employees from every corner of the world. In my previous companies, I worked with a lot of people from different nationalities, but mostly in Southeast Asia. Since Cardano is an industry-leading blockchain ecosystem with users all over the world, our employees also reflect this global perspective.
EMURGO is a founding entity of the Cardano blockchain. How has working in blockchain and Web3 benefited you?
Omar: I have lived in major cities in Europe and Asia before, but I always preferred smaller cities. Working in blockchain at EMURGO has allowed me and my family to live where we want, but also work in an exciting and productive industry since blockchain is digital and always running online. I also now learn so many things on a technical and non-technical level about Cardano and Web3 as new developments are always being worked on and updated. It has deepened my understanding and proficiency in Cardano and its wide ecosystem of decentralized applications, particularly in DeFi. These things help me to communicate with the international Cardano community.
Describe your best work moment at EMURGO.
Omar: Participating at TOKEN2049 Singapore last year and having the opportunity to meet Cardano community members who came from all over the world to our Cardano booth at the event was a very special experience. It showed how Cardano has expanded into a vast international community, passionate about how Cardano can change the world.
What’s the best EMURGO employee perk or benefit?
Omar: Working at EMURGO allows me to connect with like-minded individuals from all over the world while enabling me to enjoy my daily life in a small city in Indonesia. This is a perfect work-life combination for me.
What advice would you give to those interested in working at EMURGO?
Omar: Be curious about Cardano and how Web3 as an industry can change our societies for the better. Ask questions to receive insights and DYOR (do your research) to get a good understanding of the unique values this industry seeks to provide. If you enjoy doing those things, there is a good chance that you will love working to build the Cardano ecosystem and starting a Web3 career.
