Blockchain technology lives and dies based on adoption. Yet, most of the time this is overlooked as projects focus on developers, money grants, or other more visible metrics. Of course, all those other things would be meaningless without a way to bring people to a network.

To solve this gap, the Cardano ambassador role was created. It’s one of the key aspects when it comes to community building, and a powerful tool to increase the reach of Cardano.

In this blog, we’ll go over what an ambassador does and how they supercharge the ecosystem.

About Cardano

Cardano

Cardano is an open-source and decentralized blockchain that provides a platform for decentralized applications (dApps) to deliver financial, digital identity, digital property, and data services, among many other user services.

One of the biggest blockchains by current market capitalization, Cardano is designed to be scalable, sustainable for governance, and interoperable with other blockchains and legacy systems. Powered by Ouroboros, Cardano’s proof-of-stake (PoS) protocol, Cardano is also the first blockchain to be based on peer-reviewed research.

Formally launched in September 2017, Cardano successfully marked its fifth anniversary, and quickly grown its ecosystem to

  • process nearly 57 million transactions

  • distribute $25 million to Cardano dApp projects via its decentralized governance and funding program Project Catalyst

  • host over 4 million ada wallet addresses with active ADA user communities on social media channels

  • support more than 1,160 dApp projects currently building on Cardano

  • provide a diverse variety of Web3 products and services including wallet types and Cardano dApps for Cardano DeFi, Cardano NFTs, and more

What is a Cardano Ambassador?

The Cardano Ambassador program is an initiative by the Cardano Foundation for the Cardano community, a non-profit organization and one of the founding partners of Cardano that aims to foster transparent community management as one of its goals.

The Cardano ambassadors are an active group of Cardano community leaders that consistently advocate its developments and strengths to build awareness about Cardano to the broader Cardano community.

The Cardano ambassadors themselves are from diverse backgrounds.

Technical ambassadors focus on building awareness with developers and blockchain projects by explaining Cardano’s technological advantages.

There are also community ambassadors that focus on organizing events, communicating directly with members, and explaining Cardano to a non-technical audience.

Finally, some ambassadors focus on translating content into several local languages. Cardano’s technical research and news are mainly presented in English. With a large global user base, these ambassadors translate documents and news into local languages.

There are also moderator roles. For more information, please visit https://cardano.org/ambassadors#roles

At the moment, the Cardano Ambassador program includes more than 80 ambassadors of all ages and professions from around thirty countries across major continents.

How to become a Cardano Ambassador

The Cardano Ambassador role is a way to promote Cardano and add one’s proven skills to the greater Cardano ecosystem.

To become one, an individual can nominate himself/herself using this https://cardanofoundation.org/forms/ambassadornomination

In the form, the person has to document what value they can bring to the Cardano ecosystem by demonstrating their ability to bring their current skills immediately to the ecosystem. Applicants should already have experience and skills in the roles that they want to apply for.

For more information, watch this explainer video here.

It can be technical knowledge they can use to onboard new developers, organize community meetups to discuss Cardano development, or translate documentation into different in-demand languages.

In any case, the skills have to provide value and the leader must be a committed individual.

Having a proven track record is a good way to increase one’s chances of being selected.

For example, those looking to organize meetups can demonstrate experience in event management and hosting successful local meetups. Those more technically inclined can show they understand Cardano’s technology and can communicate it clearly and easily to a wider audience.

It is very important to remember to show a proven track record and a clear value proposition that Cardano ambassadors can immediately bring to the Cardano ecosystem.

Cardano Ambassadors are added on fixed cycles, but the program is expanding to reach more Cardano users around the world.
