Q&A with Meenakshi, Chief Delivery Officer at EMURGO Academy
Tell us a little about yourself.
Meenakshi: Hello everyone. My name is Meenakshi R, and I’m the Chief Delivery Officer at EMURGO Academy, based in Bangalore, India.
How long have you been working at EMURGO?
Meenakshi: I have been with EMURGO Academy for 3 years now.
Tell us about your professional background before EMURGO.
Meenakshi: I’ve spent more than 20 years focused on leading talent building and the overall execution of delivering software solutions including enterprise learning for EdTech companies, startups, and other large software product and service organizations. In these roles, I’ve managed the main organizational goals, team building, and end-to-end development of delivering software solutions.
Tell us about how you came to work at EMURGO and why you chose to work at EMURGO.
Meenakshi: The Head of HR at one of my previous companies who is also my mentor called me one day asking if I would be interested in setting up the delivery of solutions and services for a startup EdTech company in the emerging blockchain technology space.
The three words: startup, EdTech, and blockchain immediately sparked my interest. In my career, I have witnessed the power of EdTech solutions and services to make a positive impact on personal lives and careers by enabling more equal access and opportunities for education which creates personal empowerment.
Thus, I wanted to bring my professional experience in setting up and delivering a digital learning solution in a new and exciting career field with a lot of future potential such as blockchain and Web3 which can ultimately bring a positive change for our learners.
How is working at EMURGO different compared to your previous companies?
Meenakshi: As blockchain is a relatively young industry on the rise, there are some differences from my previous companies.
For instance, I’m learning new concepts and knowledge related to emerging technology like blockchain all the time which is helping me to broaden my professional knowledge and network.
I’m also working with and helping to deliver tailored learning solutions not just to Indian consumers, but to a global consumer base which means a lot of product ideation and implementation of a new model of solutions delivery for our learners.
Furthermore, as blockchain and Web3 as a whole are developing rapidly, there is much to stay on top of regarding innovation and the implementation of new things so that our learning solutions are updated, curated, and delivered effectively.
This also means a lot of effort goes into online community-building initiatives with current and new potential learners to raise awareness on blockchain and Web3, blockchain career prospects, and our learning solutions.
EMURGO is a founding entity of the Cardano blockchain, one of the largest decentralized blockchain networks in the industry. How has working in blockchain and Web3 benefited your career?
Meenakshi: Working at EMURGO Academy has helped me to expand my professional understanding of blockchain and Web3 and gain specialized knowledge on the Cardano blockchain in how it differs from other blockchain networks as a research-driven and eco-friendly blockchain platform.
With Cardano’s global community and the different EMURGO employees based all over the world, working at EMURGO Academy has also deepened my understanding of the needs of global consumers and how young, blockchain users quickly adopt new skills. This has helped me and our team to design and deliver training modules as well as develop tailored learning solutions.
Describe your best moment at EMURGO.
Meenakshi: There have been several gratifying moments at EMURGO Academy and the journey toward each moment has been unique and special.
For example, organically building our EMURGO Academy Community and bringing in new members through our community building events to now have more than 1000 members.
Also, our interaction with blockchain and business experts, and building and launching the EMURGO Academy Governance Council was worthwhile.
Recruiting and onboarding the right teachers, delivering a great user experience with our learning solutions for blockchain learners, and seeing the positive impact it has given them have also been very satisfying.
Any favorite perks or benefits about working at EMURGO?
Meenakshi: My favorite benefit is the personal autonomy to own my responsibilities and tasks and then see the positive impact it has on our learners. Seeing our learners come to EMURGO Academy and benefit from one of our courses gives me a lot of joy in knowing that I played a role in that.
What advice would you give to those interested in working at EMURGO?
Meenakshi: EMURGO is a founding entity of Cardano, one of the largest blockchain networks in the industry, with a global community interested in seeing the Cardano blockchain platform become a standard technological platform in the Web3 era.
