Meet Yoshida, Building a Global Cardano as Chief Executive Officer EMURGO Japan & Chief Business Officer EMURGO Group

This week, let’s meet another key member from EMURGO, Yosuke Yoshida – Chief Executive Officer of EMURGO Japan & Chief Business Officer of EMURGO Group.

Could you tell me about your reasons for joining EMURGO?

Yoshida: I got interested in blockchain technology a few years ago. At that time, I started to learn about Cardano and I became deeply inspired by the research-driven vision of Cardano. At the same time, I noticed that EMURGO was the official commercial arm of Cardano and was also established in Japan. It didn’t take long until I decided to join this amazing company to drive the adoption of Cardano and blockchain-based solutions.

What experience did you have prior to joining?

Yoshida: I have more than 15 years of experience in business development and project management for multiple international and government projects, including M&A projects, mainly in the SE Asia region.

It has now been about two years since you joined EMURGO. Can you tell me about your role and your biggest achievement?

Yoshida: As the CEO of EMURGO Japan, as well as the Chief Business Officer of EMURGO Group, I am leading the advisory/consulting business overall at EMURGO, and also responsible for leading our company in the Japanese market.

What are your thoughts on the potential for blockchain technology?

Yoshida: There are many new technologies such as AI, IoT, cloud computing, big data, etc. All of these are very exciting but they are still dealing within a centralized world. Blockchain is totally different at a philosophical level and has a real potential to create a decentralised, equitable world.

What do you like most about working here at EMURGO?

Yoshida: It is very exciting to take part in the development of a world class blockchain project like Cardano along with everyone in the team! We are growing together with Cardano one step at a time.

What do you think about the atmosphere in the EMURGO office?

Yoshida: The atmosphere is very good. We have more than 10 nationalities and a pretty diverse team. We frequently share information and knowledge with each other about all kinds of things. Unlike other traditional Japanese companies, we have a flat hierarchical structure in the office which allows everyone to share their insights proactively and freely.

How do you feel about *EMURGO’s core values?

Yoshida: Being bold, adaptive, and hungry are the values that we care about when we hire new employees and also when we evaluate our employees, especially in the rapidly growing blockchain industry. All of them are very significant.
