In a previous blog, we discussed the basic steps and requirements to start a Cardano Community Hub. These hubs are supported by Intersect, a member-based organization that plays an important role in supporting the distributed governance of the Cardano blockchain.
As the Cardano ecosystem has grown exponentially since its inception, the Community Hubs are a powerful new initiative by Intersect and its members to help bridge the global Cardano community with various local ones on different continents.
Due to this significant objective, Intersect provides grants to support the organization and operation of these Hubs. Upon receiving an Intersect grant, specific qualitative results are expected, such as increased community engagement and the successful execution of planned events.
While the expectations associated with setting up a Community Hub may seem high, the benefits of launching a Hub, such as increased community engagement and the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the Cardano ecosystem, far outweigh these expectations.
In this blog, we’ll discuss further the 5 benefits of creating a Cardano Community Hub on Intersect.
Reason #1 – Spread Cardano awareness in the local Web3 community
Blockchain and Web3 have been gaining awareness all over the globe. Many know cryptocurrencies, decentralized applications, different blockchain networks, etc. Many still need to learn about these details but have heard about various concepts related to blockchain, such as NFTs and digital tokens.
The concept of Intersect’s Community Hubs offers an excellent way for the Cardano community to empower themselves and reach out to their local tech and blockchain communities, thereby raising awareness of the Cardano network and its ecosystem of Web3 products and services.
Community Hub organizers can host meetups and events to discuss specific blockchain-related topics and receive the opportunity to introduce Cardano to people firsthand. This can forge connections between people in different blockchain communities and those outside the blockchain world who are still curious to learn more.
As Cardano is set to become the first truly decentralized and distributed blockchain fully governed by its community, its unique strength can pique the interest of others and onboard more developers, entrepreneurs, businesses, and individuals to build on and use the Cardano ecosystem for their Web3 needs.

Reason #2 – Create in-person networking opportunities
For some, the inherently remote nature of the blockchain industry can be an advantage or disadvantage. Most in the industry are connected over the Internet with developers and users worldwide, either working on or using various blockchain services.
Thus, some may have difficulty understanding the different technical and industry-related jargon and concepts, especially if they must resort to a playlist of YouTube videos, webinars, and online blockchain education classes.
To create a better balance, those interested in blockchain and existing community members must forge more tangible connections to grow as a community.
Intersect’s Cardano Community Hubs aim to resolve this need and become the local meeting center for in-person interactions that can drive the Cardano community’s organic growth.
By bringing interested and like-minded people together, more transparent and deeper discussions can be had, and bonds can be forged to spur networking and creativity to spark more development within Cardano.

Reason #3 – Widen access to blockchain and Cardano education
While blockchain and Web3 have been rapidly advancing, an education gap still needs to be bridged. Due to its abstract technical nature and relative nascency, many have yet to grasp the unique value propositions of blockchain and Web3 and what they can do for businesses and societies.
Other barriers, like language support, have also prevented wider accessibility to blockchain education. Most technical documents and content are produced in English. However, much of the growth in blockchain recently has come from developing countries where English is not the predominant language.
Through Intersect’s Community Hubs, organizers can access material prepared by the various global members of Intersect that can be quickly translated into other local languages. The material is already vetted and can be trusted as a reliable source of information on learning about general blockchain concepts and essential Cardano-related knowledge.
Greater access and distribution of educational resources can be a significant driver for the local growth of the Community Hub and the Cardano ecosystem.

Reason #4 – Increase participation in Cardano’s community-led governance
One of the objectives of the Community Hubs is to onboard more people to the Cardano ecosystem and thus have them actively participate in its network governance to become a truly distributed network. This will enable the network to advance and sustain its decentralized governance model.
Community Hubs can bring people together and incentivize organic growth through education on governance and related matters. More people will join the community and learn about the roles and responsibilities they are empowered to become, such as Delegate Representatives (DReps), Stake Pool Operators (SPOs), joining technical and non-technical Working Groups in Intersect, the Cardano Constitutional Committee, and lot more.
Since Cardano is still growing and updating as a network with more than a thousand applications running on its platform, more community members are required to help sustain, govern, and improve the network moving forward. The Community Hubs are one such important link that can support these goals.
Reason #5 – Grow as a Cardano community member
There are many reasons to join a Community Hub to expand Cardano, but what about the organizers?
The people behind setting up the Community Hubs can also benefit greatly from their work by:
- Becoming a more well-known leader in the global and local Cardano community
- Giving them a local platform to discuss future proposals for the Cardano ecosystem
- Increasing their profile and, by extension, their stake pool or DRep delegation
- Proving their abilities to handle the budget of a grant to apply for other sources of funding in Cardano
Cardano is moving to the era of government decentralization. The community must lead when deciding the future and growing the network. Community Hubs are the first step in that direction; people can start building them now.
