The Cardano blockchain network continues to march towards having a fully distributed governance structure led by the efforts of its community.
The organization and hosting of Cardano Constitutional Workshops by Intersect marks a significant step in realizing this goal. These workshops are designed to shape the future of Cardano by engaging the community in discussions that will be reflected in the official version of the Cardano Constitution. This document will become the foundation for Cardano’s governance, outlining the principles, rules, institutions, and other features the community should abide by.
This blog will explore these Cardano Constitutional Workshops, why they matter, and how they could impact the blockchain’s development.

These events are held worldwide, and organized by community members in different countries with grant support from Intersect.
The main objective is to discuss the text to be included in the official Cardano Constitution. As members from various backgrounds and regions might have unique insights and perspectives on governance-related matters, these workshops aim to facilitate discussion and collaboration.
Once the series of workshops has concluded, feedback will be compiled and used as a reference when drafting the version for a community vote later at the Cardano Constitutional Convention in December 2024.
The workshops will also have the current interim Cardano Constitution as a reference or framework.
From there, they must debate the different points of view and redact any changes or additions they think are important.
Organizers of each Constitutional workshop possess knowledge of Cardano in at least one of the following areas:
- Legal and/or Constitutional expertise
- Technical expertise
- Translators
- Aspirational Delegate Representatives (DReps)
- Cardano dApp users and consumers
- Cardano educators
Anyone is eligible to join and participate in these workshops. For a list of workshops in your local area, please refer here.
Each local workshop will take its version of the Cardano Constitution to the Cardano Constitutional Convention. Additionally, each event will vote to select a delegate to represent that particular workshop at the convention.
The delegates will join various committees and workshops at the convention. Each will write portions of the Constitution for the final draft. The delegates will then collate a full version of the Constitution for every community member to view and vote on.
Intersect has budgeted fifty worldwide workshops for the year. This means there will be at least the same number of delegates in the Constitutional Convention. The result is a representative sample of the global Cardano community that will come together in December to present the final draft.
Also, the organizers must present a vote for the selected delegate. This is to prove to the rest of the community that the delegate is legitimate and has been given representation by their local community.
