Quickly expanding its global presence in sync with Cardano’s fast network expansion, EMURGO also hosted team workshops in Spain on the road to Cardano Summit to facilitate the development of its Cardano products & services for the community.
For those who missed it, this blog will recap all the things you need to know about EMURGO at Cardano Summit 2022.

Bringing a wealth of knowledge as former Chief Innovation Officer at AEON Co., Ltd., Japan’s largest retail conglomerate, where he led digitalization initiatives, EMURGO Group COO Rio “Popeye” Inaba oversees EMURGO’s various global business units in their drive to develop useful Web3 products and services on Cardano.
Along with Cardano Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard, Rio officially opened and welcomed the 3,000+ expected attendees to Cardano Summit 2022 with an opening toast and speech about the future of Cardano and its successful 5th anniversary of Cardano’s mainnet launch.
The first USD-backed stablecoin for the Cardano blockchain
EMURGO’s biggest announcement at Cardano Summit 2022 was from EMURGO Fintech Managing Director Vineeth Bhuvanagiri with the introduction of $USDA, the first USD-backed stablecoin for the Cardano ecosystem.
USDA will be the first product from EMURGO’s “Anzens” suite of products designed to connect traditional financial services to crypto.
Fully backed by the US dollar, EMURGO has partnered with a regulated financial services company based in the United States to custody cash deposits, assuring the USDA stablecoin is fully compliant and adheres to regulatory guidelines.
USDA is planned to launch on the Anzens platform in Q1 2023 where users will be able to tokenize their USD into USDA via credit/debit cards, wire transfer, ACH (direct deposits/payments), or conversion of ADA. This will be followed by plans to enable the safe and convenient conversion of other stablecoins including USDC and USDT to USDA, and conversion and swaps of other cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH, amongst others.

EMURGO Media Managing Director Sebastian Zilliacus took the podium to discuss the importance and impact of community-led growth and presented the invite-only beta launch of Cardano Spot (formerly Cardano Clan).
Cardano Spot is a social content platform developed with the Cardano community at its core and is a place where Cardano enthusiasts can stay up-to-date and grow through insights on the market and connections with the community.
Built with the Cardano community in mind, its mission is to offer the Cardano community the most comprehensive and up-to-date Cardano ecosystem portal while providing opportunities for community members to shine by enabling user-generated content alongside curated content.
Currently, there is much-fragmented information about Cardano online making it difficult for people to learn about, verify, and keep track of Cardano-related news.
Cardano Spot aims to address these issues for all Cardano enthusiasts – developers, investors, traders, entrepreneurs, newbies, and even those who are just curious.
EMURGO Middle East & Africa discusses investing in Africa’s Web3 future
EMURGO Middle East & Africa co-CEO Yosuke Yoshida spoke to the audience about EMURGO MEA’s efforts to invest in African Web3 projects building on Cardano.
The Middle East and Africa represent two of the fastest-growing crypto adoption places in the world.
According to a 2022 Chainalysis report, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) was the fastest-growing crypto market in the world. The report further states that MENA-based users received $566 billion in cryptocurrency from July 2021 to June 2022, 48% more than they received the year prior.
And according to the UN, “Africa has the youngest population in the world, with 70% of sub-Saharan Africa under the age of 30. Such a high number of young people is an opportunity for the continent’s growth – but only if these new generations are fully empowered to realize their best potential.”
With a young demographic in place and a friendly embrace of digital technologies, these regions have huge potential for investment in blockchain and crypto services.
EMURGO Fintech Community Lead speaks on a blockchain sustainability panel
Newly appointed EMURGO Fintech Community Lead Tyler Wales was part of a panel entitled “Blockchain for Good” to speak about Web3 sustainability and how blockchain can be used to better the world for all.
Tyler spoke about looking past the speculative hype surrounding cryptocurrencies and instead thinking about the real unique value propositions of blockchain and Web3 that can bring accessible economic services to all through a variety of decentralized applications on top of blockchain platforms such as Cardano.
Cardano stands apart from its competitors in that it offers an open-source blockchain platform designed from the beginning to be eco-friendly and provide self-custodial staking for users via wallets such as Yoroi Wallet. Cardano has now developed to have over 3.9 million ADA wallet addresses globally with more than 3,220 stake pool operators and over 70% of circulating ADA being staked to secure its network.
