Q&A with Yuto, Digital Marketing & Partnerships Manager at EMURGO
Please introduce yourself.
Yuto: Hello, I’m Yuto Yoshizawa, Digital Marketing & Partnerships Manager with the Global Marketing team at EMURGO. I’m based in our Singapore HQ.
What’s your professional background?
Yuto: I started my career at Rakuten Group, Inc., one of the biggest E-commerce companies in Japan, where I was involved in business development with external partners looking to sell their products on our platform. I moved on to further develop my career in business development and digital marketing at Taboola, one of the world’s biggest discovery & native advertising platforms, where I helped to forge strategic partnerships with publishing companies, and at Bidmath, an award-winning data-driven digital media agency.
Tell us about your journey to EMURGO and why you chose to work at EMURGO.
Yuto: I’ve personally known some of the senior management at EMURGO from my previous roles at other companies and through business networking opportunities. I also had a personal interest in blockchain technology and Cardano in particular before I came to EMURGO. When one of my former colleagues joined EMURGO earlier last year, he also persuaded me to come and help build the Cardano ecosystem together. So, it was a win-win for me to join EMURGO.
How is working at EMURGO different compared to your previous companies?
Yuto: With its focus on a decentralized work structure and embrace of remote working, EMURGO has a very international culture compared to other companies, especially ones from more traditional industries. There are EMURGO employees on nearly every major continent and several business offices located across Asia, North America, Europe, and Africa. EMURGO is also different in that it’s a true Web3 company as it is a founding entity of the Cardano blockchain.
EMURGO is a founding entity of the Cardano blockchain, one of the largest blockchain ecosystems. How has working in blockchain and Web3 benefited your career?
Yuto: Working in an up-and-coming industry such as blockchain and Web3 has been very beneficial for my career as it has given me special opportunities to network with a variety of experienced professionals from both within Web3 and from those looking to integrate Web3 at their own companies. I’ve also been able to personally connect with the Cardano community and EMURGO has given me the autonomy to take ownership of my tasks to help drive Cardano adoption.
Describe your best moment at EMURGO.
Yuto: My best moments at EMURGO have been the times when I met and worked alongside the talented people that work at EMURGO. Everyone is driven and takes initiative to own their projects that fit within the broader team goals.
What’s your favorite EMURGO employee perk?
Yuto: By working at EMURGO, you play a valuable role in helping the Cardano blockchain ecosystem. This means that we get to collaborate with our partners IOG and Cardano Foundation as well on different projects, events, and initiatives to build Cardano. This access to developers and key stakeholders allows me to improve my knowledge of Cardano and Web3 in general.
What advice would you give to those who want to work at EMURGO?

- I am a “travelholic” and I travel somewhere every month.
- I love Muay Thai.
- I always go to sleep early around 10:00 pm so I can go to Muay Thai class every morning.
