Fresh off the heels of Yoroi Wallet’s extension v5.5 release, we’re excited to announce the release of extension v5.6 now available for desktop users (Google and Edge browsers) to download or upgrade to.
This latest update introduces powerful new features including the integration of ADA cashback shopping rewards, and easy delegation to Yoroi’s new DRep, designed to enhance your Cardano experience.
Let’s go over all of these below.
Earn ADA While You Shop – The New ‘Cashback’ Tab
An open-source wallet for Cardano users, Yoroi Wallet supports users with a variety of functionalities and features to facilitate the adoption of ADA for many use cases.
As announced last year, real-world utility is coming to Yoroi Wallet with the integration of ADA Cashback rewards, powered by Bring. Now, wallet users can earn ADA rewards by shopping at some of their favorite online retailers.
Extension 5.6 delivers a dedicated “Cashback tab” with household brands such as StockX, JBL, and Walmart offering ADA rewards for your purchases. Users can search for a specific brand or product, or explore curated categories such as Electronics, Travel, and more. If you have the latest Yoroi Extension installed on your desktop, and you visit a Bring retail partner site that offers rewards in your region, you will automatically receive a pop-up notification inviting you to activate ADA Cashback Rewards.
Deals are location-dependent, so if it’s available in your region, start stacking ADA while you shop.
Promoting Transparency, Proven Accountability, and Collaboration: Delegate to Yoroi as a DRep
Cardano has transitioned to a fully decentralized and distributed governance model whereby its blockchain network is governed by the community. These members can elect to delegate their ADA stake to a selected DRep (Delegated Representative) to vote on their behalf for important decisions relating to the network.
To facilitate efficient governance, Yoroi plays an integral role in the Cardano ecosystem as one of its most widely adopted crypto wallets which is used to connect to Cardano GovTool for governance matters and more.
Yoroi Extension 5.6 now also provides a dedicated button to simplify delegating to Yoroi as a selected DRep if they choose to do so. Through one simple click, users can easily start participating in the governance of Cardano by delegating their stake and voting power to Yoroi to represent them along with other Yoroi users. Both the desktop extension (v5.6.0.) and the mobile version of the wallet (v5.3.1.) now have this capability after their latest respective updates.
As a core community wallet that promotes open-source transparency and collaboration with proven accountability, other reasons to delegate to Yoroi as a selected DRep include:
- Influence governance decisions that can directly affect your wallet experience.
- Yoroi has over a six-year track record of delivering, maintaining, and upgrading services for the community as the most downloaded wallet in the Cardano ecosystem. Now as a DRep, Yoroi can be entrusted to vote on what is best for the community and wallet users.
- Governance can be complex or confusing, especially for Cardano newcomers. Delegating to Yoroi as a DRep simplifies that process, enabling users to participate in governance more efficiently via a trusted figure with a proven track record in the ecosystem.
It is also important to note that as a self-custodial wallet, users have control over their stake/funds at all times and they never leave the user’s wallet upon delegating to a DRep.
