Fintech is the application of software and digital technologies to improve existing financial services by adding efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Most fintech providers are tech startups providing their solutions to more established companies for things such as payments. More recently with the emergence of crypto or digital assets, fintech startups leveraging decentralized blockchain technology to build fintech solutions are also gaining attention. In 2022, payments and crypto were the top two most funded fintech segments, accounting for nearly half of all fintech investments [1].

In this blog as part of the “Why EMURGO is a Great Fit” series, we look at EMURGO Fintech and its role in building Web3 fintech solutions utilizing Cardano.

Web3 fintech solutions on the Cardano blockchain

Much like the Cardano blockchain, EMURGO Fintech sees the big picture and strives to provide transparent and accessible solutions. There is still a disconnect between TradFi and crypto for various reasons around the world, but many are increasingly aware of crypto. Both TradFi and crypto operate in silos which creates barriers to growth and stifles innovation and connectivity between these vibrant ecosystems.

EMURGO Fintech’s vision is to remove these barriers and enable economic growth, innovation, and financial freedom by leveraging the Cardano blockchain to provide solutions in a regulatory-compliant manner.

A focus on research, connectivity, and market-ready products

EMURGO Fintech focuses on research and transparency by focusing on gathering feedback from the Cardano community to consistently improve its products & services. EMURGO Fintech is building Anzens, a compliant product suite engineered for Cardano, to connect to both the greater blockchain industry and TradFi.

Yoroi Wallet is an EMURGO Fintech product and is an open-source light wallet for Cardano ADA holders with mobile and desktop browser versions. Yoroi undergoes comprehensive security audits following industry standards and deploys high-quality code. As a Cardano founding entity, EMURGO’s Fintech division works closely to ensure that Yoroi is developed and maintained in line with Cardano’s overall development. In addition to regular crypto wallet features such as sending, receiving, storing, and staking ADA, Yoroi enables ADA holders to connect to and transact with the greater Cardano dApp ecosystem.
